I’ve always enjoyed health and fitness and whether I’m competing in sports, keeping up with my teen-aged daughter or just walking the dogs, I’m happiest when I’m active. Considering that exercise is one of my favorite activities, it was no surprise to friends or family when I decided to attended the Cooper Institute in Dallas to become a Certified Personal Trainer. Family and friends are very dear to me and I appreciate every minute I’m able to spend with them. I love to become engrossed in a good book and play with my two miniature Australia Shepherds.
My family and I try to incorporate regular exercise and physical activity into our daily lives. My husband, who has battled health issues for several years, relies on regular exercise to aid in recovery and overall well-being. We also feel it’s important to encourage our young daughter to make healthy decisions and to stay active. As a competitive swimmer, she stays active with demanding practices and meet schedules; however, I’m not sure she completely shares my enthusiasm for health and fitness as she and her friends affectionately refers to me as mom the “Food Police.”
Exercise does not need to be unpleasant or complicated. There is more to exercise than physical appearances, sweating and increased heart rates. The end result should be about enhancing your capacity to perform daily activities and hobbies without negative side effects or injuries.
